Bren Sullivan, a sculptor, grew up with two brothers in rural Mississippi, in an old-fashioned home without modern conveniences, even indoor plumbing. She was raised in a church where even dancing was forbidden. Bren tried in her youth to live up to the religious and cultural standards of being a “proper southern girl”: being pretty and perfect. Bren’s imperfect doll-like figurative sculptures convey a sense of rebirth and ascension to a spiritual place free from the imposed bonds of vanity and perfection, religious dogma, and intolerance.
Keeping Bren’s unique aesthetic and background in mind, we designed her resume and website, using graphics especially suited for her art, and photographed her amidst her work, giving both the artist and her work the appropriate focus.
